As an international student from Taiwan, I (Kuan) have eaten probably thousands of 1000 year old eggs until I found out it is officially one of the most disgusting foods in the world. So, what is 1000 year old egg? The Chinese cover raw eggs—duck, chicken and sometimes quail—with a mix of clay, ash, quicklime, salt, and straw and let them sit for weeks or months to cure. The yolks turn deep-green and soften; the whites disintegrate into a transparent amber jelly. Reeking of sulphur, they’re served with silken tofu or pork, scallions and ginger, in the rice porridge known as congee, or simply as part of a banquet platter of cold finger foods.

Let’s check out how Remy thinks about 1000 year old egg.

1000 year old eggs are sold in most Chinese supermarkets today in the US.
But the question is DO YOU DARE?

Please comment and tell us how you think of a 1000 year old egg if you have eaten or not eaten one.

What is something you find delicious but most people would disagree with you?

Living Life on the Edge

Ever feel like getting closer to a waterfall? Enjoy living life on the edge?

It’s possible at the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe during dry seasons. It is known as the “Devil’s Swimming Pool” as tourists dive in to the water and are pushed by the currents until they are eventually stopped by a natural rock wall.

Many tourists try this including children. So how about you? Do you dare?

Ghost Pepper

The ghost pepper is a chili pepper previously recognized by Guinness World Records as the hottest pepper in the world. It is 401.5 times hotter than Tabasco sauce. Here’s a video of Jamie Kocher, CEO of the Waimea Bay Chili Pepper Company, eating one!

Do you dare take a bite?

I think for most of us, we think of Iron Man as the superhero from the famous Marvel comics of our childhood.
This guy here,

But what does it truly mean to be an Iron Man?

Well, let’s see!
Can you swim 2.4 miles? How about bike 112 miles? Or run a marathon which is 26.2 miles?
Now, what if you had to do all three in a matter of 17 hours?
This my friends is the Ironman Triathlon!

Do you have what it takes to persevere and not give up?
Do you have the drive to go above & beyond your limits?

FACT: A new world record was set during the Ironman Austria Triathlon of 2011. The 34-year old Vanhoenacker completed the course with a record of 7 hours, 45 minutes, and 58 seconds.

Will you take the challenge?

Do you dare to be next Iron Man?

Dine if you dare.

Huashan Mountain is a 2.5 hour drive from Xi’an, and it is one of five sacred mountains in China. It is known for its dangerous cliffs and plunging ravines. Not surprisingly, it is the most dangerous mountain in China for climbers. However, if climbers somehow manage to reach the very top, they earn the privilege to dine for free at the hilltop restaurant.

Interested? Well, let’s take a sneak preview of what the journey’s like!

1. Take the tram up to the start of the trail.

2. Follow the path.

3. Remember to hold onto the railing for your dear life.

4. Watch out for the people in front of you, and be careful of people who are going in the opposite direction of you when they’re descending the mountain.

5. Take a few steps.

6. Watch out now. It gets a little steeper, so keep your toes in the holes.

7. Almost there!

8. And finally, congratulations on not dying!

Now that you’ve gone through a pictorial version of the adventure ahead, the question is —

Do you dare?

Hello citizens!

Can you drive through on an unpaved road in the middle of the forest with no one to guide you but your co-driver? At speeds near 80-100mph?

All Posts

If you think you can, you should try out rallying. It is a motorsport that requires the best skills, along with insane reflex and instincts. With blind hairpins and unpaved roads, this can lead to driver & spectator casualties, and in the worst case, death!

From the forests of rural Germany, to the deserts of Baja, rally drivers and their team compete in timed tests of endurance and persistence. With races that can last 1000 miles or more, and in brutal conditions such as rain, snow, and mud; rally drivers are considered some of the best of the best. And when your only sense of navigation is your co-driver (who reads from a map) you better hope you can make it from point A to point B in one piece.

With the highest death toll among motorsports, rallies are not for the weak of heart! Note how close the spectators are to the drivers, and with no guard rails to protect you, the fans are just as insane.

Now the question is .. Do You Dare?

Stairway to Heaven

Going up stairs does not sound fun at all but rather boring and tiresome. Remember that feeling of finally reaching the 40th step? 50th step? 100th step? Oh, the feeling of being out of breath, the need for water, and sore hamstrings.
Doesn’t sound pleasant does it?

So, why is it that many people still make it their challenge to do some crazy hike that involves pretty much only stairs. Maybe it’s the excuse that it’s in Hawaii! Or maybe it is the simple thrill of being at such high altitudes and having a nice view from above.  Whatever the reasons may be, people begin their 3,922-step journey at the bottom of the Haiku Valley in the island of O’ahu . This is not a simple stair hike but a rather steep vertical trail where eventually some of the stairway steps become invisible in the midst of the fog.  Although it is originally named the Haiku Stairway, however, for this very reason many have also come to know of it as the Stairway to Heaven.

So, the final question is: Do you dare to take the thrill?

Gaki no Tsukai is a Japanese variety show featuring the comedy duo Downtown, comedy duo Cocorico, and comedian Yamasaki Hosei. They’re the people behind the popular Silent Library and Punishment Game videos that you may have see on YouTube. One of the bits they do on the show is called Absolutely Tasty. They all bring two unusual ingredients to add to a dish. They all have to sample everyone’s concoctions at the end. It’s not as extreme or dangerous as other activities, but it can get pretty gross. The video below is the one they did with rice. An actual bear’s paw may or may not be an ingredient~

Would you dare eat/drink one of this concoctions?
